Dr. Eyüp SABAH is a Professor of Mining Engineering at the Afyon Kocatepe University (AKU) in Turkey. After getting his B.Sc. degree from Anadolu University, he started his career as a Mining Engineer at ETİBANK Phosphate Works between 1984-1985. He received M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in mineral process engineering from Rhenish-Westphalian Technical University Aachen (RWTH) and Eskişehir Osmangazi University, respectively. In 1991 he worked as Mining Engineer (M.Sc.) in Garp Lignite Works (GLI) and later he worked as Research Assistant in the Mining Engineering Department of Selçuk University from 1995 to 1998. Starting in December 1998, he worked as Assist Prof. Dr. and later in 2001 he worked as Assoc. Prof. Dr. in Mining Engineering Department of AKU. He has performed research and taught courses as a faculty member since 2001. He was appointed as the Professor of the Department of Mining Engineering at AKU in 2006 and he worked as head of department between 2007-2013, a Visiting Professor in University of Surrey Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, UK from 2014 to 2015. His areas of expertise include coal preparation, mineral processing, waste utilization, chemical and physical wastewater treatment processes, clays and technological applications and are focused on adsorption properties of porous and non-porous materials - with special interest in the advancement of the understanding and characterization of sepiolite. He has been the principal investigator of 23 research projects funded by 6 companies, The State Planning Organization, The Scientific & Technological Research Council of Turkey, The Republic of Turkey Ministry of Science, Industry and Technology, and The Scientific Research Projects Committee of Afyon Kocatepe University. He has authored or co-authored 120 publications, including a book. He has consulted for 2 companies. He has guided two candidates for M.Sc. degrees, and currently one M.Sc. and Ph.D. student is working with him in Turkey.
