Diz Osteoartritli Bireylerde Trankütanöz Elektriksel Sinir Uyarımı (TENS) Kullanımı

Abstract

Diz osteoartriti en sık görülen artrit tipi olup dünyada 250 milyon insan diz osteoartritinin sebep olduğu fiziksel sınırlılıklarla mücadele etmektedir. Diz osteoartritli bireylerin en sık yaşadıkları sorunlardan biri ağrıdır. Ağrı nedeniyle hastalar yürüme, merdiven inip çıkma ve oturma gibi günlük yaşam aktivitelerini yapmakta zorlanmaktadırlar. Bu sebeple diz osteoartriti tedavisinde hastaların ağrısını azaltmak ve yaşam kalitesini arttırmak amaçlanmaktadır. Uygulanan farmakolojik tedavilerde, ağrı kesicilerin geçici olarak ağrıyı azaltması ve yan etkilerinin olması nedeniyle, nonfarmakolojik yöntemlere ilgi artmaktadır. Kullanılan nonfarmakolojik yöntemler arasında masaj, balnoterapi, tai chi, bitkisel tedavi ve transkutanöz elektriksel sinir stimülasyonu yer almaktadır. Transkutanöz elektriksel sinir stimülasyonu tedavisinin diz osteoartritli bireylerde ağrıyı azaltmada etkili olduğu gösterilmiştir. Diz osteoartritinde transkutanöz elektriksel sinir stimülasyonu tedavisi kullanımı kolay, maliyeti az ve yan etkisinin olmaması nedeniyle son yıllarda kullanımı yaygınlaşmıştır.
