Abstract

In this study, the variation of wall shear stress
along the pipe for the developing turbulent pipe flows was obtained
experimentally. For this purpose, five pipe having different roughness
(aluminum, copper, black, galvanized and PPRC “polypropylene random copolymer”)
are selected. Many piezometric holes are tapped into horizontal water pipe
closely in the transition region while only one at the entry and one at the
exit of fully developed region for the experimental study. During the experiment,
flow rates were measured using a hydraulic tank and static pressure values
corresponding this flow rates were recorded for defined time interval using a
digital camera. Utilizing these recorded images, instant pressure fluctuations
are obtained with help of an image processing software. Taking the average of
the instant pressure fluctuations time averaged pressure values were calculated
for each pressure piezometers. Using pressure difference between adjacent
piezometers the wall shear stresses have been identified. For each pipe and for
different Reynolds numbers the variation of wall shear stress has been
presented along the pipe. A predictive model is obtained by using artificial
neural network (ANN) for the shear stresses obtained from the experiment. Among
the predictive models created by ANN for shear stress values, the minimum error
rate is the predictive model of copper pipe with a value of 10%.Different error
analyzes were performed to determine the validity of the obtained model. As a
result, the wall shear stress variation in the pipes with different roughness
was determined and the highest shear stress value (20.13 Pa) was observed in
PPRC pipe.

Çeşitli Boru Tiplerinde Çeper Kayma Gerilmesi Değişiminin Deneysel Olarak İncelenmesi ve Yapay Sinir Ağı ile Modellenmesi
