TEKSTİL ATIKSUYU VE SENTETİK BOYARMADDE ÇÖZELTİLERİNDEN RENK VE KOİ GİDERİMİNDE ALÜM VE MAGNEZYUM KLORÜRÜN KARŞILAŞTIRILMASI

Year 2019, Volume: 22 Issue: 4, 271 - 280, 30.12.2019

Abstract

Her iki

COMPARISON OF ALUM AND MAGNESIUM CHLORIDE IN COLOR AND COD REMOVAL FROM TEXTILE INDUSTRY WASTEWATER AND SYNTHETIC DYEING SOLUTIONS

Year 2019, Volume: 22 Issue: 4, 271 - 280, 30.12.2019

Abstract

In this study, magnesium flocculation of textile
industry effluents from two factories and synthetic dyes solutions containing
Basic Blue 41 (BB41), Basic Blue 3 (BB3), Vat Green 1 (VG1), Vat Blue 4 (VB4),
Direct Blue 71 (DB71), and Reactive Blue 29 (RB29) have been studied and the
results were compared with alum as conventional coagulant. The effects of pH on
magnesium flocculation and optimum dosages for each coagulants have also been
investigated. The results showed that pH 11,5 was the most efficient for
magnesium flocculation. The color and COD removal efficiencies of magnesium
flocculation were found better than those of alum. The data from experimental
studies were also applied to Freundlich, Langmuir, Temkin, and
Dubinin-Radushkevich adsorption isotherm models and related constants of each
model were also calculated in order to determine the effect of adsorption. It
was found out that the adsorption played an important role during whole
coagulation process for the removal of color and COD
