Laboratory Equipment Used in Testing of Railway Vehicles: Roller-Rigs

Öz

Roller-rigs are useful laboratory equipment which provide advantages on testing of railway vehicles or their components. When conducted studies with this type of equipment and their area of uses reviewed in detail their contribution to railway engineering has been noticed obviously. They have been used in a very wide range from very specific topics to general topics. Nowadays, there are roller-rigs with a variety of types, sizes and specifications according to the demands of the institutions which are dealing with matters about railway engineering. Although there is not a standardization of roller-rigs and they are being classified according to several criteria. In this study, their uses, utilities, classifications and comparison are explained briefly. Also, a contact geometry comparison between wheel-track contact and wheel-roller contact has been provided by a numerical example. With this numerical example, basic information has been provided to the literature for a possible roller-rig design. It has been noticed that there are very few studies about this topic from Turkey according to the conducted literature survey. Hence, in order to contribute to the topic, an introductory level of information about roller-rigs has been provided.

Demiryolu Araçlarının Testlerinde Kullanılan Laboratuvar Ekipmanları: Ray Simülatörleri

Öz

Ray simülatörleri (Roller-Rig) raylı sistem araçlarının ve bileşenlerinin test edilmesinde kolaylık sağlayan laboratuvar ekipmanlarıdır. Kullanım alanları ve yapılan çalışmalar incelendiğinde raylı sistemler endüstrisinin gelişmesinde çok büyük fayda sağladığı açıkça görülmektedir. Raylı sistemlerde kullanılan araçlarla alakalı, çok spesifik konulardan çok genel konulara kadar birçok çalışma alanına hitap etmektedirler. Günümüzde raylı sistemlerle ilgilenen hemen hemen her kuruluşun kendi ihtiyaç ve taleplerine göre geliştirdiği farklı türlerde, boyutlarda ve özelliklerde simülatörler mevcuttur. Her ne kadar özel bir standarda tabi olmasa da bu simülatörler bazı kriterlere göre sınıflandırılırlar. Bu çalışmada ray simülatörlerinin kullanım alanları, ne tür testlerde kullanıldıkları, sağladığı olanaklar, sınıflandırılmaları ve bu sınıfların birbirlerine göre avantaj ve dezavantajları genel hatlarıyla incelenmiştir. Ayrıca, çalışmanın ilerleyen bölümünde ray-teker ve ray simülatörü-teker temas durumlarının geometrik açıdan kıyası matematiksel bir örnekle incelenmiştir. Bu hesaplama ile olası bir ray simülatörü tasarımı için temel sayılabilecek bilgi literatüre sunulmuştur. Yapılan literatür taramasında bu çalışma alanı ile alakalı Türkiye’de yapılan çalışmaların yok denecek kadar az olduğu görülmüştür. Bu sebeple, çalışma alanına katkıda bulunmak amacıyla bu konu hakkında giriş niteliğinde bilgiler verilmiştir.
