RECYCLING OF FINE SIZE CALCIUM CARBONATE FROM NATURAL STONE DUST WASTE BY HYDROCYCLONE
Abstract
In the study, the usability of powder residues from natural stone processing factories as industrial raw materials was investigated. Particularly, particle size distribution, chemical composition and whiteness values were investigated. When the products obtained by the hydrocyclone study were evaluated, it was determined that the loss on ignition was 44%, the whiteness (L) value was 96.80%, the brightness (Z) value was 86.72%, the CaCO3 ratio was approximately 94%, and the oil absorption value was 26.01 ml/100g has been done. 51% of the base material remained below 10 µm. The grain size distribution of this material, named as Product 1, d10, d50, d90 values were determined as 0.815 µm, 3.744 µm and 9.865 µm, respectively. When the products obtained by the study were examined, there was no significant difference in chemical content compared to the main material, but effective results were obtained in terms of grain classification. In the study, which pointed to the elimination of an important environmental problem for Afyonkarahisar province, it was presented that powdered natural stone wastes are a high quality industrial raw materials, in terms of efficient use of resources.
