Investigation of Heat Transfer Enhancement by using Al2O3/water Nanofluid in Rectangular Corrugated Channel
Abstract
In this study, effects of water-based Al2O3 nanofluids on flow characterictisc and heat transfer enhancement in rectangular corrugated channels are investigated numerically. Flow between two isothermally walls is assumed to be two-dimensional, fully developed and laminar. Phase angle effects were investigated with varying the phase angle from 180 to 0 while keeping the corrugated wall geometries fixed. Governing, momentum and energy equations are numerically solved using finite volume method based on SIMPLE algorithm. Simulations are performed for nanoparticle volume fractions between 0 to 0.08 and Reynolds number ranging from 500 to 2000. Numerical results are compared with results obtained from literature and they are in close agreement with each other. Effects of phase angle, nanoparticle volume fraction and Reynolds number on Nusselt number, friction factor and thermal performance factor are investigated.
