Becoming a Guest Editor in a Special Issue

Guest editors are essential in collecting outstanding submissions on a given subject and leading the editorial review process for publications of special issues. These issues give researchers a place to do research in developing disciplines, bring attention to significant areas of study, or to introduce innovative interdisciplinary applications. There are two ways to become a guest editor in Chaos Theory and Applications. One of them is "Invited Contribution" for a special issue. In this option, you could be asked to contribute to the journal as a specialist in your area of study. Or you can propose a special issue to the journal. You can send your proposal to the journal by email (journalofchta@gmail.com). Submissions from the Guest Editors for the special issue will be processed by Editorial Board Members of the journal to assure an impartial review procedure. After discussing it with the Editorial Board Members, the Editor-in-Chief will decide whether to accept it or reject it. If chosen, you would be responsible for of planning the issue and managing the editorial review procedure.

A special issue proposal should include the following (Preparing a proposal for a special issue):

  • Special issue title,
  • Proposal text (importance of the area on which the special issue will focus),
  • Potential topics to be covered,
  • Special Issue team (Guest Editorial Team),
  • Includes a short biography of all guest editors,
  • Deadlines for submission (Closing date for initial submission, deadline for final decision notification, publication date)

In addition to an editorial written by the special issue organizers, a special issue often includes five to ten full-length papers.

The peer-review process:

  • As soon as the Special Issue is open, manuscripts may be submitted.
  • The selection of papers should be decided on their scientific quality and on how well they fit the topic of the special issue and the journal that is publishing it.
  • It's crucial to take conflicts of interest into account when handling manuscripts submitted for your Special Issue. If you have recently co-authored with the manuscript's author(s), they might think that you have partiality because of your relationship with them. Additionally, it's important that any potential conflicts of interest among the reviewers you invite are avoided. Selecting reviewers to evaluate an article should take into consideration the factors mentioned above as well.
  • If a reviewer's personal or professional relationship with a manuscript's author or co-author has the potential to bias their evaluation of the work, they shouldn't review it.
  • The Editor-in-Chief has the sole authority to review and/or reject any manuscript or arrange for any manuscript(s) to be independently peer reviewed before being finally accepted for publication. You will typically make the preliminary decision on all manuscripts based on reviews, but all manuscripts (and revisions) will then be transferred to the Editor-in-Chief.
  • Accepted all papers are published in publication date of proposal.
  • After all submissions have successfully through peer review, we request the Guest Editor team to write an editorial to serve as the Special Issue's introduction.

Ethical responsibilities of guest editors

Please be aware that just like normal issues, special issues are subject to the same strong and rigid ethical standards (Ethical Principles and Publication Policy). The Editor has the right to cancel a special issue if unethical problems are discovered.

Other key points from our editorial policy for special issue:

Submitting to your own special Issue: One paper may be published in the Guest Editorial team's own Special Issue. We forbid any members of the Guest Editorial team from handling any articles written by Guest Editors in order to avoid any potential conflicts of interest. Because of this, Guest Editorial team won't be able to access this paper because it is handled by the journal's Editorial Board.

Avoiding citation manipulation: To enhance citations to your own or an associate's work, to the journal or to another publication you are affiliated with, you as Editor are unable to ask authors to include references.

Confidentiality, transparency and process: The guest editor is responsible for maintaining the privacy of all submissions to the journal and all correspondence with reviewers. The guest editor will use the journal system for all communications.

Pre-review and plagiarism checking: iThenticate software is used to scan submitted publications for plagiarism if they pass preliminary control. iThenticate is a system that tests the originality of the submitted material and helps detect plagiarism. The eligible ones are evaluated by the editor-in-chief for originality, methodology, the importance of the subject covered, and compliance with the journal scope after they have been checked for plagiarism. Notice that our journal applies very strict parameters of text novelty, in order to avoid possible problems of plagiarism and self-plagiarism. Texts with overlaps larger than 25% are not considered.

CALL FOR PAPERS
We welcome scholars to submit original papers to this Special Issue (SI) to highlight ongoing efforts to explain chaos-based engineering applications, such as complex networks, synchronization of complex systems, secure communication systems, artificial intelligence, machine learning, deep learning, control and optimization techniques, security for internet of things, embedded systems, and hardware implementation, among others. The purpose of this SI is to encourage original research articles in the field of chaos theory and its applications. Advances in the applied sciences and engineering that have practical applications with an emphasis on the experimental and theoretical issues are welcome.

We welcome scholars to submit original papers to this Special Issue to highlight ongoing efforts to explain chaos-based engineering applications, such as complex networks, synchronization of complex systems, secure communication systems, artificial intelligence, machine learning, deep learning, optimization techniques, security for internet of things, embedded systems, and hardware implementation, among others. The purpose of this Special Issue is to encourage original research articles in the field of chaos theory and their applications, including advances in the applied sciences and engineering that have practical applications with an emphasis on the experimental and theoretical.

Special Issue on Dissemination and Research in the Study of Complex Systems and their Applications (EDIESCA 2022)

One of the most important topics in science and engineering technology is the use of chaos. Fast growths in research on engineering applications and chaotic systems with integer and fractional orders have been reported in recent years. A diversity of innovative chaotic systems for usefulness in engineering applications have been proposed. We welcome scholars to submit original papers to this Special Issue to highlight ongoing efforts to explain chaos-based engineering applications, such as complex networks, synchronization of complex systems, secure communication systems, artificial intelligence, machine learning, deep learning, optimization techniques, security for internet of things, embedded systems, and hardware implementation, among others. The purpose of this Special Issue is to encourage original research articles in the field of chaos theory and their applications, including advances in the applied sciences and engineering that have practical applications with an emphasis on the experimental and theoretical. Both original research and review papers are encouraged.
