Abstract

SELECTION, DECONTAMINATION, PERFORMANCE PROPERTIES OF CHEMICAL PROTECIVE CLOTHING

Year 2023, , 774 - 783, 03.09.2023
https://doi.org/10.17780/ksujes.1160136

Abstract

Performance properties of chemical protective workwear to protect workers are determined regarding the types of risks, the workplace and the types of chemicals. Permeation parameters are critical for selecting chemical protective workwear and determining efficiency of cleaning process. In addition, during usage and decontamination, chemicals and cleaning agents can accumulate on chemical protective workwear decreasing its protective properties. The aim of the paper is to explain performance properties of chemical protective workwear, important factors for selecting protective clothing and importance of decontamination conditions are discussed. The performance characteristics that need to be examined in order to evaluate the selection and effects of cleaning of the clothing to be used in a workplace are explained and the measurement methods are explained.
