THE IMPORTANCE OF RENEWABLE ENERGY RESOURCES IN THE SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT OF BITLIS PROVINCE
Abstract
Energy policies are one of the most important elements in the creation of sustainable development plans. Sustainable and reliable energy policies are needed for our country to gain a place in the world market in terms of economic growth and living standards. Depending on the developing technologies, the need for energy is increasing day by day. For this reason, it is understood from the estimates that fossil fuels such as natural gas, oil and coal will be consumed rapidly and irreversibly every year. Due to the uncontrolled use of fossil fuels in electrical energy production, it is seen that many toxic gases are released into nature at a high rate. Therefore, it is understood from the researches that the rate of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere increases and accordingly the ozone layer becomes thinner. A large part of the electrical energy need can be provided by using renewable energy sources without harming human health and nature. The energy resources that are naturally present on the earth and that maintain their existence can be generally classified as hydraulic, solar, wind, bioenergy, geothermal and sea-ocean origin energies. In this study, the importance of renewable energy resources such as hydraulic, solar, wind in the sustainable development of Bitlis province has been investigated and suggestions for the future of these resources have been given.
