COMPARATIVE COST ANALYSIS IN HYBRID GENERATION SYSTEMS

Abstract

Population growth and the expansion of the industrial sector in the world are the reasons for the constantly increasing demand for electricity, which puts a burden on the central grid. Due to the negative effects of non-renewable energy sources on the environment and limited reserves, renewable energy sources have become a reliable, low-cost energy source as they reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The main purpose of this study is to meet the electricity needs of the selected region in Kahramanmaraş province of Turkey. A hybrid energy system design has been made in 2 scenarios. In this system, Hybrid Optimization Model in Renewable Energy (HOMER) software, based on real data for Kahramanmaraş province of Turkey, was used. HOMER Pro software reduces the net present cost and unit cost of energy for various cases to reduce the greenhouse gas carbon emission for the production system. Additionally, sensitivity parameter results and optimization results are obtained from simulation results from input parameters such as solar irradiance, wind speed, and non-renewable inputs. Simulation results compare the performance of the system and confirm the appropriate combination of hybrid energy systems that will reduce the net present cost , cost of energy and levelized cost of energy of the system.
