Detailed Peer Review and Editorial Workflow
KSU Journal of Engineering Sciences (KSU JES) follows a multi-stage, rigorous evaluation process managed through the DergiPark (OJS) infrastructure:
- Preliminary Control & Secretariat Review: Upon submission, the Secretariat performs an initial technical check. This includes verifying the completeness of the Copyright Release Form and conducting a mandatory Plagiarism Screening. Submissions must include a plagiarism report with a total similarity index of less than 20% to proceed.
- Assistant Editor Evaluation (Anonymization): Manuscripts that pass the technical check are assigned to the Assistant Editor. At this stage, the Assistant Editor ensures the manuscript is fully anonymized by removing all author names and institutional affiliations to uphold the integrity of the double-blind process.
- Field Editor Assignment: The Assistant Editor routes the anonymized manuscript to the relevant Field Editor based on the specific engineering discipline (e.g., Computer, Electrical, Civil, etc.).
- Scientific Pre-Screening: The Field Editor conducts a scientific pre-evaluation to determine if the content meets the journal’s quality standards and scientific rigor. If found suitable, the Field Editor initiates the external review process.
- Double-Blind Peer Review: The manuscript is sent to at least two (2+) independent external reviewers who are experts in the subject matter. Based on the reviewers' detailed reports, the Field Editor recommends a decision: Accept, Minor Revision, Major Revision, or Reject.
- Revision & Final Decision: If revisions are requested, authors must address all reviewer comments. Once the reviewers and the Field Editor are satisfied with the scientific quality, a final acceptance decision is made.
- Post-Acceptance Procedures (Language & Layout):
- Language Review: Accepted English manuscripts are sent to the Language Editor for a comprehensive grammar and proofreading check.
- Layout & Formatting: The Layout Editor ensures the manuscript strictly adheres to the journal's official template. If inconsistencies are found, the layout editor coordinates with the authors for final formatting adjustments.
- Publication: Once the final camera-ready version is approved, the manuscript is assigned to an upcoming issue for publication.
